There is a rising need to set up monitoring of land governance structures and effective systems globally. This has led to the establishment of Global land indicators Initiative and many more forums that aim at understanding the interactions with various land and land use systems. For example, there has been rapid urbanization in the last decade globally. Thus, there is need for effective and transparent governance of land and natural resources in order to realise sustainable development.
